Polam Hall School wishes to appoint a forward-thinking and enthusiastic full time Assistant Head of the Languages and Literature Faculty (French Teacher) to commence in September 2024.
The role:
We seek an experienced practitioner who is passionate about their subject and about learning and supporting a faculty, to take on the exciting role of Assistant Head of the Languages and Literature Faculty in the secondary phase of our all-through school. The successful candidate will have high expectations of students and staff and be able to collaboratively lead a team of subject specialists. You will have the knowledge and energy to inspire students through high quality curricula, teaching and learning. The role would suit an existing subject lead or teacher who is ready to broaden their experience. We would be very happy to discuss the role and show you our school so please do get in touch if you are considering applying.
The Languages and Literature Faculty comprises English and MFL in a collaborative staff team, who enjoy exploiting the connections between their subjects. The Assistant Head of Faculty is the subject lead for MFL in our Senior School and works closely with the Head of Faculty. All students study French from Year 7, with the exception of one legacy cohort (Year 10 September 2024) who are completing their study of German. The ability to offer German would therefore be an advantage, but not essential. MFL is an option at GCSE, with good take up from students, but with the potential to grow student numbers further in the future. The successful candidate will be able to teach French (and ideally German) at GCSE. We will be delivering German at GCSE until the end of the academic year in 2026.
Applications are welcomed from excellent classroom practitioners who have a keen interest in developing evidence-informed pedagogical and curricular practice. Our Languages and Literature Faculty are a forward looking and positive team who aim to provide an excellent education for all of our students. We are also looking for a colleague who can contribute to the wider life of the school, through extra-curricular clubs, trips and visits. We can offer the successful candidate support in accessing and completing NPQs or other leadership qualifications.
