The Federation of St Joseph’s Infant and Junior schools requires a committed, conscientious and exceptional individual to support teaching assistant capacity, throughout the schools. The federated schools have been selected to be part of the DfE 2022 School Rebuild Programme. Consequently, we hope to have a new school site within the next three years, which seeks to bring together the two school communities, to form one family.

We are seeking an individual who can:
- Contribute to the overall Catholic ethos/work/aims of the school
- Be committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children and young people
- Support, lead, cover and teach small group and whole-class sessions as part of planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time
- Reflect upon their practice and demonstrate a desire to continually improve
- Promote good pupil behaviour, in line with school policy
- Feedback to pupils in a timely fashion so that they continue to progress
- Adapt their teaching so as to accommodate the needs of all pupils
- Establish good relationships
- Encourage pupils to act independently
- Recognise the importance of assessment of/for learning
- Develop the firm foundations of oracy in our pupils
- Be aware of and comply with school policies/procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, behaviour, anti-bullying, anti-racism, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a professional team to carry out their roles effectively
The successful candidate will have:
- Good standard of education
- HLTA qualification or equivalent
- Experience of delivering whole class and small group teaching
- A successful track record
- An ability to work within a team
- Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum
The successful applicant will be expected to work effectively in any part of the school to help teaching staff provide excellent learning opportunities for our children.

Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, formerly The Trinity Catholic Multi Academy Trust was set up on 1 February 2012. Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Gateshead was the first school in the trust.
Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, is currently a family of 5 secondary schools and 21 primary schools from across Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham and Northumberland, in the west of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. The Trust is expanding rapidly and will reach a total of 48 schools by Summer 2022.
