Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in joining our bank of casual Teaching Assistants within Rise Carr College. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to share some information about our school, as well as some detailed information about the post.
Overview
Rise Carr College is a Local Authority maintained Pupil Referral Unit and Alternative Provision which serves the eight secondary schools in Darlington.
From September 2024, Home & Hospital Teaching Service will be commissioned through Rise Carr College, serving children who are too unwell to attend their mainstream school place.
We also run a range of projects for children who are struggling to attend education for a range of reasons.
Additionally. we operate Eldon House, a resourced centre for children with Education, Health and Care Plans with a primary need of Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The new centre is based in a stand-alone building on the same site as Rise Carr College on Eldon Street in Darlington.
The Post
*Please see individual job specifications for hourly rates of pay
We will consider applicants who have Level 1, 2 or 3 qualifications and experience.
The post is on a casual, adhoc basis depending on staffing requirements so we cannot guarantee a set or minimum number of hours each week.
You may be required to work at any of our sites to meet the needs of the students in all of our centres.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, creative and inspiring teaching assistants who are passionate about learning and committed to nurturing the emotional wellbeing of children.
The school has adopted an inclusive, integrated approach to curriculum and so we are looking for people who can support the academic subjects, but also with a creative flair and enjoy a hands-on approach to learning.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience of delivering interventions focused on behaviour and social and emotional wellbeing.
- Have very good classroom organisation and very strong behaviour management skills.
- Are adaptable and reflective practitioners who can work with children with SEMH and additional needs.
- Are passionate about developing strong, working relationships with children, parents/carers and the school community.
- Have worked within a multi-agency approach and have a good understanding of working within a team.
- Are resilient and self-motivated
In our school we are committed to providing outstanding education in the broadest sense, prioritising the development of successful learners, increasing progress to ensure that all learners reach their full potential and to extend and ensure the development of ‘the whole child’.
