Whickham School is a high performing and over subscribed 11-18 school in Gateshead. The school is seeking to recruit a Head of Year who will lead one of our Sixth Form year groups. The role of a Head of Year is a an important position within Whickham School where the successful applicant will have the opportunity to:
- Lead a year group of around 200 students.
- Lead a tutorial team teachers.
- Be responsible for the academic progress, behaviour, attendance and pastoral care of students in a year group.
- Work with other staff within the Sixth Form team, including the Head of Sixth Form, Sixth Form achievement officer and careers guidance officer.
- Be a member of our wider Pastoral Leader Group that ensures the quality of pastoral care is consistently strong.
- Coach and mentor colleagues in ensuring they are excellent practitioners
This role is aimed at colleagues who are passionate about making a difference for young people and feel they can do this through leading a cohort of students. The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop and enhance skills in preparation for senior leadership responsibilities.
